Substitutes are an important part of our team of dedicated educators. We employ substitutes for a variety of positions, both certificated and classified. Substituting offers the flexibility to choose when and where you want to work, and often serves as a pathway to contracted positions when they become available.

Substitute Rates 2026-2027
- Certificated Teacher – $190.00 per day
- Paraeducator – $25.04 per hour
- Child Nutrition Worker – $22.62 per hour
- Administrative Assistant I - $30.51 per hour
- Administrative Assistant II - $28.51 per hour
- Nurse RN/LPN - $43.81 per hour
- Bus Driver – $34.05 per hour (FSD reimburses Bus Driver substitutes for costs incurred with obtaining their CDL, fingerprinting, and DOT physicals)
- Custodian – $29.19 per hour (Custodial substitutes receive 3 days of paid training)
