On October 5th Windward High School participated in its 22nd Community Service day ~ since our beginning in 2004 we have celebrated a tradition of community service every fall and every spring. This fall Windward students and staff contributed 400 more hours of service to our local community.
Windward High School students partnered with local organizations including the Ferndale Boys’ and Girls’ Club, Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition, Sterling Paz Community Garden and Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, October 6, for the school’s annual Fall Community Service Day.
Our students and staff participated in a variety of service activities such as beach cleanup at Birch Bay State Park, putting the Sterling Paz garden beds to rest for the winter, clearing trails at Galbraith Mountain, cleaning up the grounds and building at the Ferndale Boys’ and Girls’ Club and performing chores at a local family farm.
Some students remained at the Windward campus where they worked in the school’s garden, painted a giant chessboard on the grounds and set up a new library space.
