“You’ve heard of Plato? Aristotle? Socrates? Morons…” If you think this applies to you, or you can place the movie quote immediately, then Knowledge Bowl is for you.  Knowledge Bowl is an academic Jeopardy-like competition where quick-thinking, wide-ranging intellectual interests and teamwork are celebrated. We meet once a week for practice and travel to at least three competitions against other high schools in the region.

Math Club

Math  Club’s secret is that math is not about numbers, primarily. It’s about thinking, seeing patterns, making interesting connections, getting stuck and frustrated and then gloriously unstuck and pumping your fist. That’s what Math Club does: work on interesting problems, think about math that doesn’t fit in the normal curriculum, discuss the math behind Vi Hart videos, and, oh yeah, occasionally go to math competitions

Mock Trial Club

Christopher.Perkins@ferndalesd.org

Mock Trial Club participates in the YMCA Mock Trial Competition that his held in March of each year.  We meet twice each week to learn a hypothetical civil or criminal case, take on the roles of lawyers and witnesses, then compete against other area high schools.  We have the assistance of professional lawyers from the community.  We engage in fundraising and team building activities as well.  We are a new club in the county but are working to win a place in the state competition in the next couple years.  Mock Trial Club meets regularly on Wednesdays.
