Ferndale High Landscaping Class Help Local Couple

Landscaping Class – Helping the Grays 3-31-16 from Ferndale Schools on Vimeo.

The Ferndale High School Landscaping Class is participating in a community project to help out long time Ferndale residents, Bob and Dorita Gray with much needed repairs to their home. Bob is band director at Blaine High School and Middle School and Dorita is a local artist who is undergoing treatment for cancer.

In February, the Ferndale Firefighters began coordinating work parties and a fundraiser to help the Grays with home repairs including a new roof and deck. Ferndale High School teacher, Tony Torretta offered the services of his Landscaping students to work on the yard and deck planting grass, cherry trees and laurel bushes. The students are using this hands-on opportunity to learn about project management and budgeting as they plan and design the landscaping.
