The district announces the hiring of Mr. David Rodriguez as assistant principal for Ferndale High School. Mr. Rodriguez fills the position that was open due to Assistant Principal Julia Besola moving to the
director of teaching and learning role.
Prior to joining the Ferndale team, Mr. Rodriguez served in the Burlington-Edison School District, where he was an administrative intern, summer school administer and grade one dual language teacher. Prior to that, he was a graduation coach in the Sunnyside School District. Also, he was a volunteer basketball coach. He was a member of the Mabton School Board of Directors for three years. In addition, Mr. Rodriguez is bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish.
“We are thrilled to have David joining the Ferndale High School leadership team. His experiences with promoting graduation for all fit perfectly with our district priorities. We were impressed that he has worked at all levels, elementary through high school, giving him a comprehensive view of students’ journey through the school system. The fact that David is bilingual is an added bonus,” said Superintendent Dr. Linda Quinn.
Mr. Rodriguez received his Residency Principal Certificate and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Washington University. He received a Bachelors Degree in elementary education from Heritage University.
Mr. Rodriguez begins his position with the district the week of August 7th.
