Dana Ebe has been recognized as Ferndale Kiwanis Student of the Month for January. Dana is a senior at Ferndale High School where she excels in academics and is heavily involved in activities and athletics.
Dana maintains a 4.0 grade point average. Among many things, she is the secretary for the Associated Student Body, a member of the school’s leadership team, member of DECA and Honor Society President. She has served on the Homecoming Committee, Prom Committee and Blood Drive Committee. Also, she participates in volleyball, track and fastpitch. In 2014, she was recognized with the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Sportsmanship Award.
Outside of school, Dana plays club softball for Skagit Valley Thunder. She also gives back to her community by volunteering at the Ferndale Food Bank, Bellingham Community Meal, Custer Carnival, Ferndale City Clean-up, Makala Street Jam, YMCA, Dollars for Scholars and Ferndale Senior Center. Dana sees hunger as a big issue in the community. That is the reason she gives her time to the food bank and community meal.
During the summer months, Dana works on the family farm—Ebe Farms. This past summer, she, along with her brother and sister, set up a drip tape irrigation system in the potato fields. From the fields, she collected plant samples that were sent to a state lab to test for any potential diseases.
Dana expressed that the most influential people in her life are her parents—Greg and Mary Ebe. She said they encourage and support her in all that she does.
Following high school, Dana plans to attend a four-year university to focus on civil engineering.
