The hub of the district is the town of Ferndale, located 10 miles north of Bellingham, 100 miles north of Seattle and 40 miles south of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Mount Baker and the Georgia Strait’s San Juan Islands make this an area of unparalleled natural beauty. Ferndale offers access to a variety of recreational entertainment, social and cultural pursuits. Higher education opportunities are available in Bellingham at Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College and Bellingham Technical College.
