Calendar Change for June 2 & 9

We want to inform you of a calendar change for June. The early dismissal day for elementary students has been rescheduled from Friday, June 2, to Friday, June 9. All students in grades K-5 will attend a full day of school on June 2 and will be on early dismissal schedule for June 9. At its luncheon today, Ferndale Kiwanis recognized Chloe Vogel as Kiwanis Student of the Month for April. Chloe is a junior at Windward High School where she maintains a 3.9 grade point average. For the first time in school history, Windward High School’s Knowledge Bowl team earned a spot in the state tournament. This past weekend, the team competed at Knowledge Bowl district playoffs held in Anacortes. Going into districts, the team was seeded in ninth place. Windward Students Compete in Film Project

Over the Presidents’ Day weekend, a team of Windward High School students competed in the Guerilla Film Project, sponsored by the Pickford Film Center in Bellingham. Now in its 13th year, the GFP is a filmmaking competition for teams of 3-5 high school students. Teams race against the clock to write, shoot, cut and edit a 3-minute film in exactly 65 hours. Wednesday, March 8, will be a full school day In order to make up instructional hours that were lost during the snow days in December and February, the March 8 early dismissal day will now be a full school day for all students and staff.
