Calendar Change for June 2 & 9

We want to inform you of a calendar change for June. The early dismissal day for elementary students has been rescheduled from Friday, June 2, to Friday, June 9. All students in grades K-5 will attend a full day of school on June 2 and will be on early dismissal schedule for June 9. New Principal Assigned to Beach Elementary

Released April 20, 2017 It is with great enthusiam that we announce Mark Hall has been appointed to an additional position in the district—part-time principal of Beach Elementary School. Ferndale High Student in Accident

According to the Washington State Patrol, this afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. one of our Ferndale High School students was in a fatality accident near Horizon Middle School. State Patrol officials said that “Petr Shulga was riding a motorcycle on Monument Drive.  He was an inexperienced rider and this was his first time on a motorcycle.  He lost control of the motorcycle and hit a curb. National All-Star Winner in the 2017 Breaking Barriers Essay Contest Vista Middle School eighth grader, Bella Irvine, is one of six national all-star winners in the 2017 Breaking Barriers Essay Contest. In her essay, Bella wrote about her problem with depth perception. She has an eye disease called Strabismus which causes her eyes to fight for control and refuse to work as one. At its luncheon today, Ferndale Kiwanis recognized Chloe Vogel as Kiwanis Student of the Month for April. Chloe is a junior at Windward High School where she maintains a 3.9 grade point average. She has been on the honor roll all three years. She has been recognized four times as Windward Student of the Month. Inaugural IB Exhibition held at Beach Elementary Beach Elementary School, the smallest International Baccalaureate (IB) school in the world, hosted its first Exhibition. Fifth grade students Lauren Hoekstra, Veda Kinkade and Oceana Pomeroy presented their in-depth, collaborative inquiry project at a reception for the community. Ferndale High School football standouts, Justice Powell and Patrick Hegarty, signed papers today to play football for Simon Fraser University (SFU) next fall. Both Justice and Patrick received athletic scholarships to Simon Fraser. Justice plans to pursue a degree in electrical engineering, while Patrick will be studying health science.
